Behind the scenes of Suffolk Fashion Show’s model casting

If you’ve ever wondered what goes on at a model casting for a fashion show then read on! We went behind the scenes at the Suffolk Fashion Show…

I’ve been working with the Suffolk Fashion Show team since the event began 6 years ago. We’ve become a great team (we call ourselves a ‘fashion family!’) and many of the models return year after year.

The castings help us to find new faces, as well as re-recruit models from previous years. This year the castings took place at Inspire in Ipswich.

First of all, the models receive name badges and have their headshots taken by our wonderful photographers Ian and Emily.

Pam, the show’s fabulous Director, greets everyone and explains about the show and when rehearsals will be.

Then it’s on to the catwalk! We ask each model to walk down in pairs to gain some confidence from each other first, then walk singularly.

Next we do some catwalk routines to see how quickly they can pick up the walks they’ll be doing in the show.

It also helps us to see which models work well together and have a good connection – it’s all about having fun at the end of the day, we aren’t London Fashion Week after all!

Finally, we do ‘the snake’ – the dreaded finale of our shows which sees the models zig zag across the catwalk. And I have to say, the models nailed it!!

The Suffolk Fashion Show will take place on Thursday, October 4th this year at Trinity Park. Early bird tickets are now available for £25 and include entry to the catwalk show, 5th Avenue Shopping Arcade and tapas during the show. Early bird closes on 8th September, so get your tickets quick!

There are also VIP experiences available –for £40 you will have a premium seat close to the catwalk, plus a goody bag and glass of Prosecco, as well as entry to the 5th Avenue Shopping Arcade and tapas during the show.

Get your pals together for a night of fun and local fashion! I’ll keep you updated with all the backstage goss.
