What’s on in Suffolk October 2019

It’s one of my favourite times of the year! Halloween, pumpkin picking and hot chocolate with marshmallows…yes, October is full of fun and spook-tacular events! Let’s find out what’s on in Suffolk in October 2019:

2nd Oct – 2nd Nov – Scaresville Haunted Village at Kentwell Hall

Now in its 13th year, Scaresville is one of the most popular Halloween attractions in Suffolk. A creepy and eerie old village appears at Kentwell Hall every year in October. It is known as the haunted village or Scaresville where ghost and ghouls want to give you a fright. This is such a fun and immersive experience that is perfect for the spooky season, so gather up your friends and make this a night to remember!

3rd Oct – Suffolk Fashion Show, Trinity Park

Held at Trinity Park Ipswich, Suffolk Fashion Show is now in its 7th year. This autumn/winter fashion event is brought to you by Fashion Candy Style and is a fun filled night of fashion, style and much more. There is a professional catwalk show, showing you such a unique mix of retailers from in and around Suffolk. There is even a shopping space where you can browse before the catwalk show and even a tapas style menu to enjoy while watching the catwalk. This show is also supporting the charity Lighthouse Women’s Aid.

4th – 6th Oct – Oktoberfest at The Sorrel Horse

Bringing Munich’s famous Oktoberfest to the Deben Peninsula! The Sorrel Horse will have a great range of Suffolk and German beers on offer from local suppliers as well as Oktoberfest themed food on the menus and of course pizzas on Friday and Saturday. There will be music from the brilliant Urban Myth, Peter Hepworth and Robert Brown.

5th – 27th Oct – Undley Pumpkin Patch Picking and Maize Maze

Undley Farm is celebrating its 20th year this year! The pumpkin patch and maize maze will run throughout October (weekends and half term). This beautiful farmland offers you the chance to pick your own pumpkins and there is the chance to give the maize maze a try! There is an on-site barbecue where you can grab locally sourced burgers and sausages or you can try out the hog roast, or a wood fired pizza. There is even a Halloween Food Cabin where they will be offering traditional food such as pumpkin pie, pumpkin soup, Halloween cookies/cake and so much more.

6th Oct – Suffolk Wedding Show, Wherstead Park

Know someone who is getting married and wants some help finding out more about how to have their dream wedding? The Suffolk Wedding Show is a perfect place to go to find out more about what to have at your wedding. These are the largest wedding shows in the Ipswich area with over 70 exhibitors helping you find what you need for your wedding. They have exhibitors from all areas including bridalwear, caterers, decorations, hair & beauty, venues, photography, menswear, entertainment, transport, videographers and more!

16th Oct – ‘PAUSE’ Immersive Yoga Event, St Edmundsbury Cathedral

A three hour, multisensory wellbeing journey with 80 yogis! A herbal tea reception will greet you as the Cathedral Choir sing. The yoga session will be led by Jacqui Sinclair and followed by a hypnotic gong bath to revive, relax and restore.

19th Oct – Wickham Market Arts Festival

This popular event is back and ready to inject some creativity into Suffolk. This festival also includes the Big Draw, where anyone who loves to draw or anyone who wants to draw but feel like they can’t. There are so many workshops to get involved in so there are plenty of opportunities to let your creativity run free. There are exhibitions of contemporary and traditional art from artists in and around Suffolk.

19th – 27th Oct – Halloween Family Festival Kentwell Hall

Nothing planned for during the half term but don’t want your little ones to be bored? Head to Kentwell Hall during the October half term to take part in one of the many events at the Halloween family festival at Kentwell Hall. There are 7 activity zones over the Kentwell estate for a fun filled magical autumn day. This includes school of sorcery, Halloweenies, Unfairground, fairy garden, witches walk, were wood and Haunted Hedgecastle. Dress up in your favourite Halloween costumes and enjoy your magical day!

19th – 27th Oct – Halloween Fun at Easton Farm Park

During the October Half Term, Easton Farm Park transforms into a spooky paradise. With a Halloween theme around the park and plenty of activities for the little ones. This includes seeing the animals, seeing the spooky trail, making a broomstick and doing a creepy Halloween quiz with the chance of winning a spooky prize.

19th – 27th Oct – Zoopernatural half term at Africa Alive!

Another amazing Halloween half term treat for your kids at Africa Alive! Take your kids to learn about animals and enjoy some fun filled Halloween activities like storytelling, a wizarding school, frightful face painting, pumpkin carving and Halloween themed crafts, there’s so much on offer for your child to do during the half term!

24th Oct – Jazz Up Your Pumpkin, Urban Jungle Suffolk, Beccles

Head to the Urban Jungle to jazz up your pumpkin! You will use natural fruits and foliage, autumnal accessories and decorations to create a beautiful centrepiece for your home. Get creative as a family, or with friends this Halloween.

25rd – 27th Oct – Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival

Lover of anything literary based? The Bury St Edmunds Literature Festival is for you. There’s a whole host of exciting events, talks and discussions. Bury is renowned for having famous writers born there or reside there and we are lucky enough to have a few of those people appear at this exciting festival for all things literary. There will be some special guests including Ruth Hogan, Sam Byers, Nicola Upson, Sophie Hannah and Matt Gaw. Events include Fen Song and Open Mic, talks from authors and a short story writing competition for young writers.

26th Oct – Trick or Treat Halloween Event with Sleeping Beauty & Maleficent at Fynn Valley Café Terrace.

Halloween Magic has arrived and in the best way. Spend 90 minutes with Sleeping Beauty and Maleficent having lots of Halloween fun. Enjoy a Scary Sundae with Halloween treats, dance with the princess, enjoy live singing from the characters, themed Halloween games and crafts and a candy hunt in such a beautiful venue at Fynn Valley! This is such a great event for any Disney and Halloween lover!

27th Oct – Beccles Pumpkin Festival

In it’s 4th year, Beccles holds its annual pumpkin festival. The event will be held at the Beccles Free School Grounds (with free on-site parking) and there is so much on offer. There will be lots of stalls and refreshments, childrens Halloween fancy dress competition, adult Halloween fancy dress competition, enter your own carved pumpkin into a pumpkin competition and money raised from this year’s event will go to the Beccles Army Cadets.
