The Regatta: Food Review

The Regatta in Aldeburgh is one of my family’s favourite restaurants for special occasions…

We’ve been going to the Regatta for special family occasions for as long as I can remember. Situated on Aldeburgh high street, The Regatta serves up delicious seafood and seasonal dishes.

Most recently we went to celebrate my mum’s birthday (I won’t say how old she is, I’m sure she wouldn’t appreciate it!).

The specials board that night was brimming, as always, with fresh seafood. Crayfish cocktail, sea bass and skate were some of the highlights, and my parents and brother all chose the crayfish to start. I, however, opted for my favourite from the nibbles menu, prawn sesame toasties…delish! This is just the way to start the meal, tasty little bites that don’t fill you up too much so you miss out on your mains.

For the main course I opted for the sea bass on ratatouille. The crispy skin of the sea bass was cooked to perfection and the fish delicately flaked in the mouth. The ratatouille was a lovely accompaniment…as were the cheeky portion of chips I ordered to go with them!

As always, we had a great evening and I’m sure it won’t be long until we visit again…my dad’s birthday is just 9 days after mum’s!

If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion on the Suffolk Coast, I can highly recommend The Regatta. The service is always excellent and the food is superb.

Let me know if you visit!
