Top Lunch Spots in Ipswich

I’ve been working in Ipswich for nearly a year now and love trying out different places for lunch from time to time – there are only so many Boots meal deals one girl can handle!

Here are some of my current favourite lunch spots:

  1. The Grazing Sheep

Set beside the waterfront, The Grazing Sheep is a beautiful lunch spot on a sunny day. Serving up plates of warming wholesome food such as stews and tacos, the café also has a great list of sandwiches and homemade cakes – the cheese scones and sausage rolls are a big hit at lunchtime! I’ve heard from colleagues that the healthy smoothies are lovely (and look very instagrammable!).

  1. Fishface

This cute café right in the centre of town is also an interiors shop selling upholstery, painted vintage furniture and fabrics. You’ll find Fishface in The Walk offering a tasty brunch and a range of sandwich fillings available on bagels, bread or pittas. This is currently a new favourite of mine for cakes as they have a huge range that also includes gluten-free options (you have to try the deliciously rich gluten-free brownie – I can guarantee you’ll be in heaven).

  1. La Tour Cycling Café

A very new edition to the list, my colleagues and I first visited La Tour on Friday for fantastic lunch! An eclectic café with a cycling theme, this community focused café is simply charming and has some really delicious healthy dishes. I ordered a Dutch ham and cheese Panini and it arrived with the most delicious fresh salad which include beans and olives. Now, I have to admit that I normally dodge the salads that come with sandwiches as they can often be lacklustre, but my goodness were these salads delish! The Panini had an incredibly generous filling (so much so that I took half of it back to the office to eat as a snack later on). One of my colleagues had a very cute looking avocado and cream cheese open sandwich on rye bread and another had a moist brownie and cup of tea. It’s safe to say we’ll be back again very soon!
