Cupboard Love is a local company that helps people to shop plastic-free. Started by Mel and Alex, Cupboard Love offers the chance for people to pick up everyday essentials and other plastic-free items.

Selling grains and rice, beans and pulses, herbs and spices, dried fruit, nuts, cereals and pasta in big jars, you can restock your cupboards by bringing along your own containers and filling up with exactly the quantity you need.

Mel also sells personal care products and homewares including natural soaps, deodorants and shampoos, bamboo toothbrushes, laundry detergent, reusable bags, toilet roll, metal straws and sandwich wraps.

At the Cupboard Love event at The Sweffling White Horse I filled up on rice, some walnuts, a bamboo cup and reusable make up scrubs.

I think most of us are becoming aware of just how much packaging shops are using and how this is seriously impacting the environment. With the way that shops have surrounded everything with plastic they have made it incredibly difficult to avoid it, even if you want to! But even if we can make some swaps it will make a difference, and hopefully show big retailers that what they are doing is no longer acceptable.

You can find Cupboard Love at Woodbridge Market on Thursdays, Old Jet Market on the first Saturday of the month and La Tour Cycle Café between 10am-12:30pm on a Wednesday. Or you order online!
