It looks like this Valentine’s Day we’ll be out of lockdown and able to spend quality time with our partners (fingers crossed!). Here are some top things to do in Suffolk this Valentine’s Day.
See a Spectacle of Light
If you’re looking for a romantic evening, then you could book tickets for the Spectacle of Light at Haughley Park. The after-dark adventure features an illuminated trail around the gardens. There will be refreshments, including mulled wine and hot chocolate, to enjoy along the way.
Enjoy Afternoon Tea
The Chocolate Teapot, in Aldeburgh, offers a cosy, indulgent dining experience that will be perfect for Valentine’s Day. The team have put together a Valentine’s Afternoon Tea which will include finger sandwiches, pastries, sweet treats and a glass of pink fizz. Valentine’s Afternoon Tea will be served 6th-14th February.
Foodie couples can learn new skills together at the Two Magpies Bake School. The cookery school in Darsham offers a range of different classes to choose from including a Pizza Masterclass, Macarons & Meringues, Pies & Pastry, French Baking and Creative Cake Decorating. Book a course and spend some quality time together.
Book a candlelit dinner
Spoil the special person in your life with a romantic Valentine’s dinner by candlelight amongst the oak beams at the 15th century Swan at Lavenham Hotel and Spa.
A selection of à la carte dishes will be on offer, or treat your partner to the special five-course Valentine’s menu, which includes a vegan option, and is only available on 14 February. It begins with a selection of tasty canapés followed by two starters including a duck liver terrine with Parma ham and torched mackerel. For mains there’s a choice of either beef or artichoke dishes followed by a chocolate or poached pear dessert.
If you both love a bit of adventure, then this could be a fantastic date activity. The indoor climbing wall at Clip ‘n Climb in Ipswich doesn’t require any previous experience to take part. You’ll have a safety briefing before you’re let loose on the walls.
Visit a local distillery
Take a tour of Fishers Gin Distillery overlooking Aldeburgh beach. Discover how the gin is made and sample some of the lovingly crafted gins.
