30th Birthday Dinner at the Regatta in Aldeburgh

regatta in aldeburgh - starters of squid and crab

Last week I celebrated my 30th birthday at the Regatta in Aldeburgh. I’ve raved about the restaurant many times on this blog, so I’ll keep this post short and sweet.

Our dinner was, as always, delicious! We’ve been visiting the Regatta in Aldeburgh for as long as I can remember. We were regulars when Rob and Jo Mabey owned the restaurant and celebrated every memorable occasion there with family. We were over the moon when Oli and Alex Burnside saved it from closure at the beginning of 2020.

This was the first time we’d be able to go since the pandemic began and it did not disappoint.

To start I chose the duck bon bons, which I can highly recommend. The dish melted in the mouth and was complemented by the crunch of gem lettuce, cucumber, spring onion and the perfect accompaniment of hoisin dressing.

For my main course I picked one of the dishes from the special board – seabass with mushroom and prawn fricassee. And of course, a side portion of fries! I’m a big fan of seafood so this was a hit with me.

I’m sure we’ll be back again soon!
