What to do in Suffolk this July

Latitude sign

The summer is well and truly here with tons of seasonal events lined up in Suffolk. In this new monthly feature I’ve put together a list of things to do in Suffolk this July.

7th July – Suffolk Heritage Food Tour

On Saturday 7th the Suffolk Heritage Food Tour will be going on a Scenic Suffolk Coastal Ramble taking in the beautiful sights of our county, as well as some of the best tastes along the way. The walk will include a drink at the Eels Foot, nibbles and wine at the Artisan Smokehouse and famous fish and chips in Aldeburgh.

12th – 15th July – Latitude

This year’s line up includes Alt-J, Solange and The Killers – but Latitude has so much more than music. It also has some fantastic comedians, writers, poets and dancer who will take to the various stages over the weekend. I love the vibe of Latitude, it’s such a relaxed, family-friendly festival. You can wander around and always find something new and exciting.

18th July – Photo Walkshop in Woodbridge

These relaxed photowalks are a great way for photography beginners to learn more about their cameras and discover new techniques. If you’ve always wanted to try photography I would highly recommend these walks with Andy and Craig. They are also a great opportunity for those with experience to meet like minded people and capture some lovely scenic images. Plus we all end up in the pub for drinks at the end!
If you’d like to find out more you can read my review – and I’ll see you on the walk!

21st- 22nd July – Jimmy’s Festival

Jimmy’s Festival sees headliners Paul Young and Happy Mondays take to the stage during the two-day event. There will also be local acts including Bessie Turner (who I can’t wait to see!) and Fick as Fieves. As you would expect from Jimmy, there will be lots of delicious food and drink, and there will be a line up of chefs including Jimmy’s Farm head butcher Jonny Farrell and Ginger Pig’s Jessica Wragg.
I’ve kindly been invited to attend the Festival by Patrón Tequila and I’m really looking forward to it! The Patrón team will be there during the brand’s summer tour in an airstream where they will be serving up bespoke cocktails. Patrón Tequila will be collaborating with some of the best bartenders across the country and I bet there’ll be some delicious drinks to sample over the weekend.

From 21st July – The War against the Plastic Tide

This exhibition at the Seaview Gallery in Walberswick runs from July 21 to September 2. The art works for sale aim to raise awareness and funds for marine conservation.

27th-28th July – Sax Music Festival

This community led festival will take place in the grounds of Saxmundham Free School. Featuring local acts and cover bands, this festival is free for all to enjoy! There will be workshops going on and family fun to be had.

28th July – Fram Makers Markets

The free event is held every third Saturday of the month at Unitarian Meeting House in Framlingham. Come along and meet some lovely local makers who create all kinds of crafts including jewellery, candles, prints, brooches and much more.

29th July – Suffolk Dog Day

Celebrate your four-legged friends at Suffolk Dog Day on July 29th. Taking place at Helmingham Hall Gardens the day will include dog agility, classes and stalls selling items for your beloved pooch. I’m going to try and head on down with our Lab x Spaniel Hudson – I’m sure he’s going to love it!
Tickets cost £10 for adults, £5 for children and include entry to Helmingham Hall Gardens.
