Hen Do Ideas in Suffolk

Last weekend it was the hen do for one of my best friends. It got me thinking about other hen do ideas in Suffolk and where to go for those special occasions with friends.

For my friend’s hen do we were trying to decide what to do here in Suffolk that wasn’t too expensive and could include everyone. We ended up heading to Pleasurewood Hills for some nostalgia and then camping at my dad’s campsite, Mill Hill Farm Caravan and Camping Park.

It was such a great weekend and I have to give a shout out to the staff at Pleasurewood Hills who were absolutely amazing! At each ride they congratulated the bride and let us take a zillion photos.

Hen do ideas in Suffolk:

Escape Rooms

If you haven’t been to an escape room before, then the basic premise is that you are locked in a room (don’t worry, you can actually get out if there’s an emergency), and you have a certain amount of time to solve the puzzle and get out. This is a great idea as an ice breaker if not all of your hens know each other.

There are a few escape rooms in Suffolk. The Puzzle Room at the Suffolk Food Hall is great fun – the theme is ‘Escape the Gamekeeper’s Bothy’ and it is set in authentic Victorian farm buildings. The Suffolk Escape Room, near Saxmundham, has an air raid themed puzzle based in an original wartime Nissen hut.

Cocktails

It’s no secret that there aren’t many places in Suffolk that you can go ‘out out.’ But, if you’re looking for a hen party location to drink and dance, I would recommend Aurora on the Ipswich waterfront. The cocktails are totally delicious and the view over the river is beautiful. You can even hire a private room if you want an exclusive experience for you and your gals. If you’re based closer to West Suffolk, I’ve heard great things about The Northgate in Bury St Edmunds.

Spa weekend

If you have a larger budget to play with, then a spa weekend is probably at the top of the list for many bridal parties. There are plenty of places to choose from in Suffolk including The Bedford Lodge Hotel, Ufford Park and Weaver’s House Spa at The Swan in Lavenham.

However, I would definitely recommend Aqua Sana at Centre Parcs in Elveden. The spa has 15 different experiences and rooms, more than any other spa I’ve ever visited. Relax in the Turkish Hammam, float in the heated outdoor pool or enjoy one of the many treatments on offer. Then either stay in one of the rooms at the Spa or hire out one of the Centre Parcs lodges and enjoy the other activities at the site such as Go Ape, Archery and Segways.

Watersports Activity Day

For those adventures groups, the Southwold Surf School offers both hen and stag do activity days. Providing the opportunity to learn to surf, try paddle boarding or go mountain biking, the Surf School will help you plan a fun and action-packed day on the Suffolk Coast.
