Hidden Treasure: Yoxford Antique Centre

We head to the Yoxford Antique Centre for some bank holiday tea, cake & shopping…

Driving down the A1120 everyday, I always pass the Yoxford Antique Centre and remind myself to visit at the weekends, and, after a year, I’ve finally remembered!

This bank holiday my mum and I decided to go somewhere new for our regular tea, cake & shopping trip. We knew it wouldn’t be a great idea to head to the coast (the A12 has been a nightmare this weekend hasn’t it!), so we finally headed to the Yoxford Antiques Centre which also houses the Flying Goose Cafe.

Arriving in the beautiful sunshine, the surrounding gardens looked like the epitome of summertime with lush lawns and bright, blooming flowers. Heading inside the centre, we explored the Aladdin’s Cave of rooms home to a mix of antique and up-cycled furniture, vintage fashion and jewellery and unique retro items. Whether you’re looking for one-of-a-kind books, genuine antique furniture or refreshed and repainted items, you’ll find something for your taste.

Outside, the owners have created arts & crafts beach huts that feature more lovely items from artists, furniture makers & crafts people.

Also outdoors, you’ll find the Flying Goose Cafe. With ample seating to dine amongst the garden furniture and outdoor antiques, the terrace is a real sun trap. Serving up some delicious cakes and coffee, next time the sunshine comes out, we’ll definitely be back.

Flick through our photos to see the kind of items you’ll discover on your shopping trip – I fell in love with the pastel painted dining room furniture! I love how the chair seats were re-upholstered with Cath Kidston inspired oil cloth for easy cleaning.

So get out there and See Suffolk.
