Suffolk Blogger Series: Meet April from A Dose of April

Today we catch up with Suffolk blogger April from A Dose of April for our next Suffolk blogger series interview.

Hi April! When did you start blogging and what made you decide to start?

I started blogging around 5 years ago on Tumblr of all places. It was basically a way for me to write about things I was interested in and in the hope that it would appeal to other people with similar interests. I was always recommending music or products to friends so I took that one step beyond by starting a blog. It also helped that I loved writing from a young age.

What do you most enjoy writing about?

For me it changes quite frequently depending on what I’m interested in at the time but I always enjoy writing about tips for everyday life and everyday fashion. I find it easy to write from personal experiences and if that resonates with someone, all the better.

Your flatlays are amazing! What’s your top tip for making a flatlay?

Well that’s very nice of you to say, thank you so much. My top tip for creating a flatlay I would have to say is don’t be afraid to experiment with different angels. Take as many different shots as you can before you end up happy.

Where is your favourite place to shop for outfit photos?

Ooh, that’s a tough one to answer, I’d have to say either Primark, New Look or Depop. All of which are super affordable and you can find some awesome key pieces that will just pop in outfit photos.

Any fashion predictions for autumn?

I’m hoping midi dresses stay around but with an autumnal twist like the prints and colours. I’m going to love styling them with chunky jumpers and boots.

Do you have a favourite place to go and write your blog in Suffolk?

I tend to write in the comfort of my home most of the time but I do find the occasional visit to Honey & Harvey in Woodbridge helps with a creative spark or two.

Can you recommend a hidden gem in Suffolk?

Ooh, I think a hidden gem for me would be one of my most favourite places to eat which is a café in the centre of Ipswich town called Jacey’s. The menu is full of homemade hearty food which are all delicious. The service is always amazing and more people definitely need to know about it.

What are your plans next for your blog?

I’m not the best one for planning content for my blog but I’m heading to California in October so expect lots of travel content from me which I’m super excited about. I’m also hoping to do Blogmas again this year so I best start planning some ideas for posts now.
