Happy New Year readers!

If you’re starting to look ahead to see what will be going on in Suffolk in 2019, then here’s a list of events for you not to miss this year.

Start filling your diary with these top events not to miss in Suffolk in 2019:

Henham Park Festival of Running
12th May 2019
The debut Festival of Running at Henham Park is a family friendly event that will incorporate a running race, with a choice of three distances, as well as food stalls, live music and yoga classes. The festival will encompass three race distances, a 10k trail run, a 5k trail run and a 1k Fun Run around the lake, with all the courses ending on a finishing line over the iconic Henham Park bridge.

Suffolk Show
29th -30th May 2019
Of course it couldn’t be a Suffolk event round up without including the Suffolk Show! The event will return to Trinity Park on 29th and 30th May. As always there will be displays in the ring, animals to see, activities to take part in and stalls to shop. One of my favourite areas of the Suffolk Show is the Food and Drink area with its Cookery Theatre and Food Hall.

Suffolk Day
21st June 2019
Suffolk Day is a fairly new event that celebrates all things Suffolk with events being held across the county. Expect event announcements throughout the year – or you could organise an event yourself!

Fit East
6th July 2019
Fit East returns to Trinity Park in Ipswich for the second time. The event includes over 30 workouts and workshops for participants to try. There are stalls, guest speakers, nutritional advice and health analysis to take part in. I went along last year to try out the workshops and activities – it was a really fun way to try new workouts. You can read more about last year’s event here.

Latitude
18th-21st July 2019
Latitude Festival will return to Henham Park near Southwold between Thursday 18th July and Sunday 21st July.

I already can’t wait for festival season to start. I love Christmas, but straight afterwards I am done with winter! Bring on the summer and those long, warm evenings spent outside with friends.

Latitude is yet to announce the line up (normally happens in March I think) but you can purchase tickets now to make sure you’re booked up. Find out more about the local festival by reading my post from 2018 here.

FolkEast

FolkEast will be at Glemham Hall for the seventh year and the event organisers have already announced a number of acts!

Richard Thompson, Karine Polwart Trio, Sharon Shannon Band, John Smith and Calan are some of the acts that are have been confirmed for 2019. Keep up to date with further act announcements on the website where early bird tickets are available now.

Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival

Over 100 producers take part in this event at Snape Maltings each year showcasing the very best local food and drink brands. Expect to find tastings, workshops, stalls and a cookery theatre with celebrity chefs. This year’s line up will be announced later in the year; stay tuned to the website to find out more
