Calling all Suffolk runners, have you heard about the Festival of Running set to take place next year in Henham Park?

On 12^th May 2019, Henham Park, the home of Latitude Festival and Henham Steam Rally, will be the location of the inaugural Festival of Running.

The event will encompass three race distances, a 10k trail run, a 5k trail run and a 1k Fun Run around the lake, with all the courses ending on a finishing line over the iconic Henham Park bridge.

For those familiar with the Latitude festival grounds, I’m sure you’ll agree that this will be a beautiful place for a Sunday morning run. The course winds through glades and past the hall before crossing the tape by the lake, where the main event base will be. There will be prizes for winners in different age categories, which will be given out at a presentation on the day.

The day will include more than just the race. While the focus of the event will be on running, there will also be yoga sessions from Sarah Rous, sporting equipment stands and many other lifestyle features. Participants will be able to enjoy live music after their run, refuel at food stalls and celebrate at the bar.

Runners are invited to bring their families too. The 1k Fun Run around the lake will take place after the 10k and 5k races have finished. Dogs are also allowed in the main festival base (yes!), but cannot accompany participants on their run.

The event has been put together by local organisers and is raising money for a fantastic cause, Norwich and Central Norfolk Mind. 10% of profits from the event will be donated to the charity and participants are encouraged to raise money.

Although I’ve let my running slip in the past year I’m going to train up and attempt my first ever 10k (did I really just promise that…!) to support a brilliant cause.
