5 Things I Love About Suffolk In The Autumn
- Crisp autumn walks on the beach…
Walking along the Suffolk coastline is gorgeous at any time of year, but there’s something special about when the air changes to that crisp, fresh autumn breeze. A stroll always helps me to get ready for the start of a new season.
- Pumpkin carving…
For years it was a tradition for my dad, brother and I to carve pumpkins before Halloween. My dad is the best cook and he’d often make soups from the insides of the pumpkin for the family (me excluded, I hate soup…don’t judge!).
This year I really want to go to a farm and go pumpkin picking. Apparently the Undley Pumpkin Patch near Mildenhall is great for doing this.
- Walking in the forest…
I love all the different shades of autumn. It never fails to amaze me how many tones of red, orange and yellow come out every season. There’s nothing like walking through the forest with the fallen leaves crunching under foot, and I can’t wait to take our new puppy Hudson for his first explore in a big pile of leaves!!
- A pint by the fire in a cosy pub…
This has to be one of my top favourite things about the nights drawing in. Sitting down in a traditional pub beside a log fire with a pint of Aspall or glass of wine and good company…that’s just the perfect night to me! I’m definitely a pub girl rather than a club girl – you can probably tell by my instagram!!
One of my favourite pubs for this has to be the Walberswick Bell. An open fire, delicious pub grub and bumping into friends…bring on autumn y’all!
- Autumn festivals…
Another thing I love about Suffolk in the autumn is that we don’t just stop hosting great events. There are three food festivals; The Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival at Snape, the Newmarket Food & Drink Festival taking place as part of the Newmarket Open Weekend and the Woodbridge Shuck Shellfish Festival…pass me a fork!
There’s also the Halesworth Arts Festival that allows you to experience performers in the unique and intimate environment of the Halesworth Cut. The HighTide Festival showcases the very best new playwrights, actors and directors and the Flipside Festival hosts some top international musicians.
